| | Logging the miles | | How are my running buddies doing?
I've been MIA lately, sorry. I just got derailed and keep forgetting about mylot.
Last week I ran 9 miles barefoot and a total of 11.8 miles. This week I get four running days in so will do well.
Yesterday I ran 2.8 miles barefoot. It was a short run but I was trying to reach 3 miles and I was guessing at my distance. I shortchanged my guestimate.
Tomorrow my plan is 4 miles but I have insomnia tonight so not sure if I'll be able to get myself up early enough or have the energy if I do.
I'm excited to get up to at least 15 miles per week.
I'm going to miss my 10K race at the end of this month because I opted to go visit my daughter instead. I instead signed up for a half marathon in December.

| make your own story by changing the capitilized words | | Once upon a time in a land called BARBAJELLY there lived a FAT ELF. Every sunday he would run through the town with his PANTS off and SCARE all the little FAIRIES. One day the smallest FAIRY had an idea. She quickly gathered all her friends together in the JUM-JUM FLOWER. They wrote a letter to THE GIANTS in the land over the MOUNTAINS and accross the RIVER OF LALABUMTUM. Then, they waited for sunday to arrive. Sure enough, when sunday was upon them the ELF could be seen in the distance RUNNING at full speed with his TONGUE flapping in the wind. When he reached the middle of the town there they were... 5 humungus GIANTS with no PANTS on. The ELF was so imbarrassed he left BARBAJELLY crying ITS OK MR WINKY and the FAIRIES jumped for joy. Oh yeah, the FAIRIES also became very acquanted with the GIANTS from sunday till saturday. The End | |
| | Training for a 13k | | Hey everyone! I'm training for Disney's 13K race at the end of October, which is about 8.1 miles. You have to keep a 16 minute pace so I always time myself on my runs. Right now I'm doing about 5 miles an hour, so a 12 minute pace which is really good in my opinion. This is going to be my first big race though so does anyone have any training tips? How not to get tired of training and running everyday, or what is the best thing to eat before you run and then afterwards? Do you drink water during your run or just when you get back?I'm new to the whole long distance running idea, so hopefully this discussion proves useful![em]thumbup[/em][em]yawn[/em] Happy my lotting! | |

| | when in your life were you fittest/healthiest? | | Just wondering if you can remember a time in your life when you were the fittest. For instance, when you jogged the most regularly. Or could run the furthest distance (how far?). Or could swim everyday for a certain number of laps. For me, the fittest point in my life was when i went for a 21 day outward bound school course. We did distance running every evening and speed running every morning. It got to a point at the end when i could run 11km in about 1 hour. I often look back and wish i were that fit again. the nearest i got was to running 10k in 2004 in 1 hr 15 mins. hoping to do another 10k sometime soon.for most singaporean men it is probably their national service days. but maybe for some it was in school when they were in the school team for some competitive sport? anyone represented their country? | |

| Kissing can actually be healthy for you... | | * The science of kissing is called philematology.* A one-minute kiss burns 26 calories measuring energy-producing potential of food).* Kissing releases the same neurotransmitters (chemical messengers in the brain) as intense exercise, like parachuting or distance running. The heart beats faster and breathing becomes deep and irregular.* Saliva, the mucus-filled slime that wets the mouth, crawls with microscopic bacteria (single-cell organisms) that enter from air, food, and dirty hands. Between 10 million and 1 billion colonies (groups of bacteria) are swapped with each smooch! But saliva also contains antibacterial chemicals that kill most bacteria before the germs are exchanged in a kiss.* A simple pucker uses two muscles, the upper and lower orbicularis otis surrounding the lips. A passionate kiss uses all 34 facial muscles. So as you see, kissing is not only fun, but also healthy. Did you know any of these facts? Tell me what you think of them. | |
| | Can you remember any sporting event where NIKE shoes lifted you up? | | well i am not an endorser for NIKE, i am not a star athlete but i had this very memorable experience with a NIKE pair of shoes when i was still a new employee and 1st time for me of joining marathons in Cebu City, Philippines. I joined local distance running races here in our place just for the joy of meeting people who are one with me for good health and good health!
one of the local races i joined (i can't remember the exact date coz it's already years back!) where i won the champion trophy for the employed category (aged 39 yrs below) where as part of the prize was a pair of NIKE shoes! It was really funny then because i was honestly targeting to own a pair of NIKE shoes since what i used during the race was a borrowed one from a fellow novice in running a good friend of mine, Romeo. He lent me an old pair of NIKE shoes and the sad thing was during the race i sort of "destroy" the sole! I could not imagine then how i might be able to replace that since having a pair of this branded shoes requires you to have extra cash, yet, there was it --- my prize was this great pair of NIKE shoes, and it really lifted me up, inspired me to save for another reserve pair so i can give in...

| | prevention & cause of asthama in children(parents must read) | | Many things can cause asthma symptoms to start; these are called triggers. Every child's asthma triggers are different. Sometimes it can be difficult to figure out exactly what your child's asthma triggers are. Work with your child's doctor or nurse to identify your child's specific triggers. It is important to try to control your child's exposure to the triggers that make his or her asthma worse.
Irritants and allergies are the two main types of asthma triggers:
Irritants
Irritants are substances that irritate the nose, throat, or airways. Common irritants include: • Cigarette smoke
• Strong smells
• Colds or other respiratory illnesses
• Chemicals
• Air pollutants
• Weather conditions
Allergies
Many children with asthma also have allergies, which can make asthma worse. With allergies, a child's immune system becomes sensitive to allergens, which can include: • pollen
• pet dander
• dust mites
• mold and mildew
• cockroaches
These allergens can increase inflammation (swelling) in the airways and trigger asthma. With continued inflammation, the airways become even more sensitive to triggers. Other triggers
